GCE L2 Units 1 & 2 Reflection
The focus of Unit 1 on peer collaboration and professional development was a great reminder that we can be more intentional about sharing our best practices with our coworkers. Often we look to coaches and trainers to take on the burden of professional development, but it's true that much of what I've learned and implemented in my classroom has come from my colleagues sharing ideas and collaborating together. I am excited that Unit 2 focused on alternative methods of instruction and offered ideas for personalizing learning. When we talk about classrooms that are flipped, blended, or project based, we often hear that it is the sole organizing structure. I appreciated the approach that we can incorporate units and elements of these instructional styles without having to commit to them 100%.
I am excited to implement hyperdocs into my classroom this semester. With so much learning happening online this year, I hope that hyperdocs can provide more opportunities to individualize learning and exploration. After exploring the hyperdocs website, I really like the organizational structure used to create them out of slides, and the idea of classroom collaboration on them as well. I also like the idea of creating digital portfolios of student work with either sites or bloggers. It could be a useful tool for students to track and monitor their learning throughout the year.
Bridget, I love all that you got out of the first two Units that you shared above. I think what struck me most about what you said was about incorporating different parts of instructional styles without having to commit 100% - 24/7. Also, I loved how you shared that LOTS of what you learn comes from colleagues sharing ideas and tips, not necessarily just organized professional development! Have so much fun with HyperDocs, they can be incredibly helpful during remote learning and awfully fun for students to explore and engage with! Nice job!
